The Nonantum Resort - Kennebunkport, ME

Kennebunkport, Maine is home to the picturesque Nonantum resort, a quintessential New England resort with romance bursting from the seams. The word 'Nonantum' comes from the Native American Algonquin word for 'blessing' which is what you'll be counting during every surreal moment of your stay! The resort's customer service is top notch and you can tell that it's a priority to the owner's, the Ginn family. The staff is ample and extraordinary, each member was full of personality and eager to please. They were truly knowledgeable about the area, as only a local can be, recommending special off the beaten path places not to miss. They went above and beyond to print us directions to an incredibe restaurant in town that we would have never known about otherwise. It is a seasonal resort opening mid April to mid December and it's only a scenic five minute walk into the quaint town for Maine-inspired souvenir shopping, art galleries, ice cream, great restaurants and beautiful Kennebec river views from the bridge. The resort offers a convenient shuttle service to their overnight guests within a five mile radius. Tom, our shuttle driver was the best and gave us the inside scoop about the resort, which spots in town are open late and more!

Nonantum's own award winning restaurant, 95 Ocean opens Memorial Day! The restaurant features only the best and freshest ingredients, buying directly from local farms, using fresh local seafood, and my personal favorite - their own herbs picked right from the resort's own organic garden! Talented local musicians perform most nights of the week and add to the ambiance of your dining experience. We loved how much the Nonantum is involved in the community, learning that they hold Benefit Breakfasts on Saturdays in May where a portion of the proceeds go to a carefully selected non-profit organization. On Sunday mornings they hold a breakfast featuring a local artist where you can browse their exquisite work, get to know them, and purchase a memento. The buffet breakfast was terrific, offering a different pancake and scrumptious quiche flavor every morning, fresh fruit, muffin varieties and much more!

We hear that the annual Fire and Ice event in the beginning of December, following Kennebunkport's Christmas prelude, is a must see! The Nonantum has bonfires, hand-carved ice bars and sculptures in their back yard, holiday themed cocktails, and live music and dancing to sail into the holiday season with your sweetheart.

With 'Romance' being the name of the game, it's not a surprise that this amazing coastal resort has been selected to The Knot Hall of Fame, being the 2016 pick for the best of weddings and the Wedding Wire couples' choice awards for 2016 as well! There are so many romantic spots on the resort grounds, with sailboats and water views that will make for an amazing backdrop for your special day.

We loved enjoying our coffee every morning, rocking on the front porch, sipping cocktails at Heckman's pub and taking them out to the back lawn to relax in the Adirondack chairs by the river. We soaked up the charm of the lighthouse and boats sailing by and started to plan our return visit. We can't wait to get a beach pass and for Latitudes Pool Bar and Grill to open in July! Our rooms were so serene with oceanic colors and view of the river, it was impossible not to feel at peace. Nights were divine - snuggling in front of the fireplace, sleeping in just long enough to not miss breakfast in a huge comfy bed with pillows galore and poring over Maine magazines that give you idea after idea for the next time. I think the Nonantum has it right when they say that their family owned resort is, "Where Traditions Begin!" Book your next getaway with the seaside romance package (which includes a scenic day sail or sunset sail) at this Romantic New England Resort now!
