The Spring Seasonings event coordinated by the Newton Needham Regional Chamber early April was a taste-bud extravaganza. Over 40 local restaurants and venues gathered in one space showcased their best food and drinks and we were lucky enough to be invited so we could share a couple of our favorites with you!
Romantic New England loves supporting our local community and it's always a treat to find that we don't have to travel far for inventive and gourmet dining! The Biltmore Bar and Grille served up one of their most popular appetizers, macaroni and cheese fritters with sriracha aioli presented by general manager, Katie and event coordinator, Nikki. Their warm smiles and enthusiasm made it evident how much they love what they do and believe in the restaurant that they are such a big part of at Good N U Hospitality.
We loved seeing where the magic happens and discovering what should make the Biltmore your go - to neighborhood bar in Newton!
Walking down the path from parking lot to restaurant, the vibrant artwork gives you a clue that you're heading into a colorful and welcoming spot. We imagined ourselves heading there for a drink after a long work-day, meeting friends to play trivia, having dinner or even brunch to catch up with our family and take the night off from cooking! The gorgeous pieces of art and collectibles peppered among the restaurant were all hand-picked by the restaurant's owner and really add a fun and energetic vibe.
They've recently moved into a new menu for the changing season and the airy patio just opened which means warmer weather is just around the corner! We were so into the atmosphere we almost forgot to mention that the real highlight for us was the food! The Biltmore can please all palates. This old speakeasy restored from 1914 brings you back in time with renditions on classic comfort food and always offer specials from local oysters, a catch of the day, burgers and their infamous "fried fluffernutter" dessert! They also have masterful bartenders curating seasonal drinks garnished with fresh herbs that we haven't seen offered too many other places in town.
This restaurant and staff love to have fun! Monday and Tuesday nights offer $1 local oysters, Tuesday nights are also pasta night featuring a few different pasta dishes. Wednesdays are Stump Trivia nights, Friday they have karaoke and Saturday and Sunday both have a delicious brunch menu. New for this year is an open mic night on Saturdays for aspiring comedians and singers. Check out the remainder of April's calendar and find out what's coming soon in May at The Biltmore Grill. With such a friendly staff you feel right at home and the food was so delicious we can't wait to come back to visit and try even more! We especially enjoyed the oysters, deviled egg appetizer and Biltmore burger! Some say that mussels can be a gamble but Biltmore's were some of the best we've had!!
Of course we had to try that fried Fluffernutter and it was truly a peanut butter lovers dream dessert.
We relished our dining experience at the Biltmore Bar and Grille and we'll be back to enjoy the patio and all of the brunch offerings on an upcoming weekend! You had us at "mimosas and chicken and waffles!"
THE BBQ DON
Don's BBQ, AKA the "Godfather of brisket" is run by owner, Sebastian who is Italian by blood and a barbecue master by love. In the business for eight years he has now been offering the same delicious barbecue brought to you by his catering service for over two years. He's most known for his famous brisket and we were able to confirm for you exactly why!
Sebastian wakes up extra early to ensure that your brisket is mouthwatering and cooked just perfectly. Depending on the size and type of the meat being smoked, the average smoking time is anywhere from 13 hours- 18 hours with oak and apple wood and it sure pays off! It's been said that when Texans have come into town they've been so impressed with the quality of his authentic barbecue they keep coming back to use his catering!
Dons's offers many catering packages and price points so it can be the perfect choice for any of your celebrations! Besides the famous brisket they offer so many other delicious options such as Carolina pulled pork, smoked sausage, smoked chicken wings and "finger lickin" coffee rubbed baby back ribs. To compliment these succulent mains is a multitude of scrumptious traditional southern sides like Sue's New Orleans macaroni and cheese, southern style cornbread, 5 pepper chili, baked beans, cole slaw, andouille sausage and rice and of course some greens!! When you're thinking about brisket, we highly recommend letting the crew at Don's and their delightful array of meat-treats impress you and your guests! If you prefer dinner and a show, entice your guests by bringing a smoker to your next event and let the professionals show you how it's done!
